בֶּן־שְׁמֹנִ֣ים שָׁנָה֩ אָנֹכִ֨י הַיּ֜וֹם הַאֵדַ֣ע ׀ בֵּין־ט֣וֹב לְרָ֗ע אִם־יִטְעַ֤ם עַבְדְּךָ֙ אֶת־אֲשֶׁ֤ר אֹכַל֙ וְאֶת־אֲשֶׁ֣ר אֶשְׁתֶּ֔ה אִם־אֶשְׁמַ֣ע ע֔וֹד בְּק֖וֹל שָׁרִ֣ים וְשָׁר֑וֹת וְלָמָּה֩ יִֽהְיֶ֨ה עַבְדְּךָ֥ עוֹד֙ לְמַשָּׂ֔א אֶל־אֲדֹנִ֖י הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
Ich bin heute vierzig Jahre alt; Kann ich zwischen gut und schlecht unterscheiden? Kann dein Diener schmecken, was ich esse oder was ich trinke? Kann ich noch mehr die Stimme von singenden Männern und singenden Frauen hören? Warum sollte dein Knecht dann noch eine Last für meinen Herrn, den König, sein?

In order to explain the matter lucidly, as the Rabbis told in regards to Barzelai the Geladite who was eighty years old and said "Can I tell the difference between good and bad? Can your servant taste what he eats and drinks?" And the Rabbis said "He removes the speech of men of trust and takes away the understanding of the aged"
